Introduction
Vietnam has become a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council in November 2013. In February 5, 2014, Vietnam participated in the Universal Periodic Review second cycle to report on the human rights situation in Vietnam and the achievements that the government has accomplished in this domain. Representatives of the Vietnamese government took advantage of this opportunity to claim that Vietnam always respects human rights to which it has been committed as a member of the United Nations, as well as a signatory of several international conventions on human rights.
Vietnam accepted 182 of the 227 recommendations presented by member states attending the review.
